Diablo Analytical has released Version 4.0.17.2 of the EZReporter Software.

This is a minor update with the following enhancements and fixes:

Significant Enhancements:

[+] [NGA] When transferring component physical constants from the Standard Components table to the current configuration, all ‘alias’ components for a particular standard component that are found in the component table are updated. Previously, only the first component found was updated. This allows components using the same set of physical constants to be updated automatically (for example, n-Hexane and Hexanes).

[+] [ALL] Re-enabled water calculations when extended fraction calculations are enabled if the raw/un-normalized amount units reported by the GC are Mole%. If the raw amount units in the NGA Settings are set to Vol% or Wt%, then Water Calculations will be disabled and can’t be enabled until the units are switched to Mole%. Similarly, if you have enabled water calculations with Mole% raw units, you will not be able to change the raw amount units to Vol% or Wt% until you disable water calculations. Note that the water calculations are not calculated and reported for all of the extended fraction results – only those already reported for NGA reports.

Significant Fixes and Other Changes:

[-] [ALL] Addressed a potential issue with obfuscation settings that may cause the software update check to fail. This issue affected versions 4.0.17.0 and 4.0.17.1. If you are running either of those versions, you may have to upgrade manually by downloading the installer from our web site.

[-] [ALL] INFICON Fusion Connector: fixed an issue with the “Open and process Fusion JSON data file” function when selecting multiple data files, only the first file would be processed multiple times.

[-] [ALL] Include the field ID and caption in the error message displayed when a non-numeric value is entered into a numeric custom sample information field in the manual data entry window.

[-] [ALL] Sample Results and Sample Processing panel splitter distances that are set during start up have additional exception handling and debug logging information to address potential startup exceptions.

[-] [ALL] Addressed an issue where additional instruments defined while in trial mode would still be active in the background even though a smaller number of instruments were licensed and activated. However, those additional unlicensed instruments are not displayed in the instruments table so they can’t be edited or deleted.

.NET Framework 4.7.2 Runtime is Required

This version of EZReporter 4.0 requires the Microsoft .NET 4.7.2 Framework runtime to be installed. If the computer has an Internet connection, then the installer will automatically download the runtime if it is needed. If the computer is not connected to the Internet, then you will need to download the runtime file from our web site and copy it to the same folder as the installer before starting the installation. The runtime file is 526 MB in size.

Note: if you are running a relatively recent version of Windows 10 (April 2018 Update – Version 1803 or later) or any version of Windows 11, then your system already has the runtime installed. In addition, another program may have already installed the runtime. So you only need to download the runtime if it isn’t already installed on your computer.

Installing this Release

If you are running version 4.0.4.1 or later, you can download and install the correct version of the software using the “Check for Updates” option of the “Help” menu.

Otherwise, simply download and run the installation program from the download page.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you download the installer that includes support for the chromatography data system you are using.

NOTE: The “web” version of the installer can be used to upgrade an existing installation even if the computer doesn’t have Internet access.

Your current version of EZReporter will be uninstalled and the new version installed automatically.  Your license status will be preserved.

Significant Fixes and Other Changes:

[-] [ALL] Fixed an issue where if a new configuration file is loaded using the “Load” button in the configuration editor, when you try to save the configuration a warning is displayed that the configuration was changed in the background and the original configuration file is reloaded and overwritten.

Significant Enhancements:

[+] [ALL] The result processing behavior for several connector plugins has been changed. If an error is generated when reading the text file (csv, txt, esd, tx0, etc.) containing the results saved by the chromatography data system, the file is renamed to “.csv.err”, “.txt.err”, etc. so that the file can be examined, but it doesn’t block subsequent processing. For data systems that save a separate text file for each channel, an attempt is made to delete the corresponding text files to prevent processing incomplete results.

In addition, a new menu option has also been added to the instrument context menu of these connector plugins: “View Monitored Folder”, to open the folder that the connector plugin is monitoring for the text files so that you can quickly search for the text files that generated the error.

Connector Plugins Affected: Thermo Chromeleon Connector, Bruker Compass Connector, Shimadzu LabSolutions Connector, Agilent OpenLab CDS Connector, Agilent EZChrom Connector, PE TotalChrom Connector.

[+] [RDB] Added an option to the Find Results window and the “Display Sample History” options of the Results Database Processing settings to order the results by 1) ResultsID (the default), 2) The Injection Date, and 3) Sample Name (Find Results only). In normal operation, the Results ID will be in the same order as the Injection Date. However, if older results are imported and appended to the database, they may have a higher Results ID than newer results. Selecting Injection Date can address this provided the Injection Date is present. The Sample Name option is included as an additional convenience for the Find Results window only.

[+] [ALL] INFICON Fusion Connector: Added the ability to select multiple JSON data files for processing to the “Open and Process Fusion JSON Data File” function in the Fusion Connector Options/popup menu.

[-] [ALL] Addressed an issue that could arise if a sample was processed in the background while editing a configuration file, and the instrument rules loaded a different configuration file for processing. When the edited configuration file was saved it would overwrite the configuration file that had been loaded by rules. Now, the original edited configuration is restored, saved to the original filename, and reloaded.

Enhancements:

[+] [RDB] Added an “Advanced Database Search” option to the Select Results window. To access the advanced search window, select the “Sample Name” option under “Find Results” and then click the button labeled “…” to the right of the sample name field. You can choose to search a number of different database fields for text that “Equals”, “Contains”, “Starts With”, or “Ends With” a text string.

[+] [RDB] Added an option to the Advanced Database Search window to display the search results summary as the sample summary or sample history. The sample history can be slow to display if a large number of results is found in the search. So this option always defaults to the sample summary.

[+] [ALL] INFICON Micro GC Fusion Connector: Added and option to the connector settings to synchronize the date and time of the Fusion’s on-board computer with the Windows computer whenever EZReporter connects to the Fusion.

[+] [RDB] Added a new “Find Duplicate Results” option to the pop-up/context menu that is displayed when you right-click the Sample Results Summary table. You will be prompted to select the database fields to use in determining whether a result is a duplicate. The suspected duplicates will be displayed in the Sample Results Summary table for review and deletion if desired.

Fixes and Other Changes:

[-] [ALL] Fixed an issue with reading and writing XML configuration and initialization files with section or keynames containing an apostrophe (‘).

[-] [RDB] Fixed an issue with the naming of the backup database file (the month portion of the file name was being set incorrectly to the minutes).

[-] [RDB] When backing up the database prior to deleting results, the backup file is now named with the standard date-time stamped file name (Results-yyyyMMdd-HHmmss.db) rather than the fixed file name used previously.

[-] [RDB] A new “Delete Results” window is displayed when deleting results from the database. It includes a checkbox to enable/disable backup of the current database. The deletion of results, compression of the database, integrity check, and update of the Sample Results Summary table are now done on a background thread to improve performance. A progress bar and status are displayed during this process.

[-] [RDB] After deleting results from the database, the results are also removed from the current Sample Results Summary Table. If any statistics were displayed at the bottom of the table, they are also removed since they are no longer valid.

[-] [RDB] After deleting results from the database, the database is automatically compressed to recover space, and then an integrity check is performed. If the integrity check fails, then you are prompted to restore the database from the backup that was created automatically in the backup folder.

[+] [NGA] Added the EN 15984:1977 Carbon Content and Calorific Calculations with corresponding new component and total results and export variables.
